‘Tis the Season for Recognition

It’s time to apply for the recognition you deserve.
Having the year end upon us and 2020 looming on the horizon means one thing for LTEN members: It’s time to apply for the recognition you deserve for your 2019 accomplishments. As we do each year around this time, we’re getting ready to award, reward and feature your work.
This year, I have five unique opportunities to invite you to consider.
First, the 49th LTEN Annual Conference will take place June 8-11, 2020, in Kissimmee, Florida at the Gaylord Palms, which promises to be a great spot for the LTEN community to collaborate, learn and celebrate. As I hope you know, the conference is an effective learning event because of the generosity of our members, sharing their collective experiences.
The call for workshops for the 2020 conference is now open. Anyone can apply to speak at the annual conference. The workshops are organized into 15 tracks, so there’s certain to be a place where your experiences will help make the workshops relevant and informative. To apply, visit www.LTENconference.com.
Then there’s the 6th Annual LTEN Excellence Awards, one of the highlights of the annual conference. The awards and associated poster session recognize the most innovative and effective training activities from both our training community members and our industry partners. New this year will be an Excellence Award targeted to recognize the unique training challenges our non-commercial peers face.
The applications will open early in the year. Please visit www.LTENconference.com/Awards to view the categories and start thinking about what 2019 work you’d like to submit for award consideration.
Two other areas you can submit applications for are also associated with the annual conference. Applications will open early in January 2020 for LTEN Members of the Year and the LTEN Hall of Fame.
Do you know someone who has championed LTEN? If so, please nominate them for Member of the Year at www.L-TEN.org/MOTY.
Is there an industry giant whose contributions to the training world deserve special recognition? That’s what the Hall of Fame is for. You can learn more and submit nominations at www.L-TEN.org/HallofFame.
That’s four, and the fifth opportunity is new. I’m excited to tell you about it.
Helping others succeed is what we do in training and we couldn’t do it without the support of those who have a passion for the craft and often give above and beyond … our field trainer community. Field trainers often support the home office efforts regardless of other duties. Without the pull-through these partners provide, the efforts of the training department would not be as impactful.
In recognition of this, LTEN is launching a Field Trainer Scholarship that will provide tuition to attend the LTEN Annual Conference. Field trainers can apply for the scholarship, using an application that asks for management approval to attend the conference and highlights their work on an innovative training project that had business impact.
