Carrie Schaal, an AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals director and life sciences industry leader with more than 25 years’ experience, has taken a seat on the LTEN Board of Directors, LTEN announced today. Schaal is moving from the LTEN Advisory Council to fill the Board seat left vacant by Mike Bell of Takeda Pharmaceuticals, who left the Board after taking a new position with Takeda.

Schaal is senior director of oncology training and development for AstraZeneca. Her appointment to the LTEN Board of Directors, a group of life sciences training leaders who oversee all LTEN operations, and guide and manage the organization, begins immediately. Since January 2016, Schaal had served on the LTEN Advisory Council, a group of business leaders that supports and helps operationalize initiatives and programs for the LTEN Board of Directors.

Schaal is an accomplished training and sales leader with a focus on life-long learning, innovation and team development.  She has more than 25 year of experience in the industry, providing strategic planning and practical implementation of initiatives that communicate vision, build relationships and create innovations. Schaal is an active member of LTEN, the Healthcare Business Women’s Association and Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. Earlier this month, the AstraZeneca training team led by Schaal was named the All Star Team winner in the 3rd Annual LTEN Excellence Awards.

"Carrie has been a strong, dedicated member of LTEN and a valuable asset to the Advisory Council, and we know she’ll be a strong addition to the Board of Directors as well,” said Dawn Brehm, executive director of LTEN. “We’re looking forward to working with Carrie in her new Board role. We also wish Mike Bell well in his new strategic position with Takeda, and thank him for his valuable service to the LTEN Board.”
