Bonus Focus (BF): How long have you been an LTEN member and what led you to join?
Chris Platanos (CP):
Since 2008. Being new to healthcare training, I was looking for resources to support my effectiveness and an organization to learn from others.

BF: What value has LTEN brought to your career?
CP:
LTEN has been extremely valuable in my career in helping me develop skills and implement impactful training programs to serve our team. I have met some extraordinary people throughout the years attending the annual conference and workshops. Although we work at different companies, many of our learning and development challenges in healthcare are similar across industry. Learning from other members, meeting vendors with innovative solutions and sharing ideas to help others be successful make LTEN an extremely valuable resource to me.

BF: What is the best career advice you’ve received?
CP:
I have been fortunate to meet and worked with Ken Blanchard. Ken’s message of servant leadership has always stuck with me and is my guiding principle. What am I doing to serve others to grow and be successful? How have I made an impact on serving patients?

BF: What advice would you offer someone seeking a career in training?
CP:
Go for it! I believe it can be one of the most impactful jobs in the healthcare industry. Execution is where the rubber meets the road. Implementing thoughtful, impactful and sustainable training programs is a key driver of success. This success leads to improving patient outcomes, which is the goal of what we do.

BF: When you think of great leader you worked with, what made them great?
CP:
Having a servant mentality, integrity and leading by example.
