With a new year quickly approaching, SPBT is getting set to welcome the new board president this January, as John Sjovall, the executive director of sales training and development for Daiichi Sankyo, Inc., will begin his two-year term. John takes over from Genentech’s Carol Wells, who led the board in 2012 and 2013.
John’s succession is at an exciting time, with SPBT set to undergo a metamorphosis that more accurately reflects the scope of training and education in the life sciences industry. The society’s growth is just one of the changes that John finds exciting, and he’s taking an active role to help ensure SPBT is poised to solidify it’s role for the future. "There is a ton of change, including in technology,” John said. "the next couple years will be about keeping focused and driving these exciting changes.”
An SPBT member since 2004, John knows he’s stepping into some large shoes, worn by previous leaders including Carol Wells, Michael Capaldi, Jennifer Zinn and John Constantine. "I’ve had the benefit of seeing my predecessors, great leaders all, and what they’ve done,” John said. "I’ll be trying to build on that success.” Read More

Held in Indianapolis, early last month, Summit included keynote presentations, workshop sessions, networking events and an "unconference,” where attendees were able to join targeted discussions or create their own conversations.
